Yes. It stays latched to the anchors for the whole trip, and you open it as often as you like. It is a steel box, not a cooler: it gets as hot or cold as the car, and it is not waterproof. Treat batteries and anything heat-sensitive the way you already do in a parked car.
It is latched to steel anchors welded to the car’s body, and the release is inside the safe. To take it out, someone has to open it first. With enough time and enough tools nothing is secure. Our job is to make a smash-and-grab need far more of both than a thief brings to a parking lot.
If the back seat has child-seat anchors, yes. Owners run it in Wranglers, Gladiators, Cherokees and 4Runners. US passenger vehicles from model year 2003 have lower anchors in the back seat (LATCH in the US, ISOFIX everywhere else). Heavy-duty pickups over 8,500 lb and regular cabs may not: check yours in a minute. For a spot without anchors, the Universal Anchor Adapter (coming soon) adds the same latch points.
