Hai Tran Boosted Safe Elite Review: The Best Car Safe?

What Hai Tran tested

This is a 4-minute review of the Boosted Safe Elite by Hai Tran, a YouTube creator, posted Apr 4, 2026, using it in his truck.

Video by Hai Tran, on YouTube. Paid partnership. He says Boosted Safe provided the unit, had no say in the video and did not see it before posting. Words below are ours, not theirs.

This is a short, measured review. His framing is the one we would use ourselves: "no safe is completely foolproof". The question he asks is whether it adds enough friction to spoil a quick smash and grab. He thinks it does for most of them. He bases that on the theft demonstrations we have published and not on a test of his own, so weigh it that way.

He has two real complaints. The first is the cover. He does not like the diamond pattern, because it does not blend into most interiors and may draw the eye to the safe. He would prefer something plainer. Other cover colors are sold separately, as he notes.

The second is the mount itself. The safe clips to the LATCH anchors (called ISOFIX outside the US), the same points a child seat uses. In his truck he usually runs one car seat, so it works. If he needed both seats in, the safe would have to come out. Families short on anchor positions should take this seriously.

What he likes is the anchor approach over a cable around the seat, the choice of ways to open it, and the pluck foam. He describes a firearm as one reason to own it, alongside travel and expensive gear. Firearms are stored unloaded.

The title asks whether it is the best car safe. He does not compare it with any other, so the video does not settle that. One fit detail: the anchors come in US passenger vehicles from model year 2003, with exceptions such as heavy trucks.

What to watch for

  • 0:24. His disclosure.
  • 0:57. Where he says his view of the theft demonstrations comes from.
  • 1:23. His complaint about the cover pattern.
  • 2:24. Why he prefers the anchors to a cable.
  • 2:54. The child-seat limitation.

The Boosted Safe Elite in his truck

The Boosted Safe Elite opens by fingerprint, keypad or key. The release is inside the safe. It comes off the anchors only after it has been opened. With enough time and tools nothing is secure. The job is to raise the time and the tool count.

The Elite in this video is a theft safe in 16-gauge steel. If firearms are the main job, the Golden Gate Elite is the model certified for firearms, in 12-gauge steel, on pre-order. Shipping: November.

If your anchors are spoken for, the car safe for parents page covers the Boosted Safe Mini Elite, a real certified booster seat with a locked steel box inside, on pre-order. Shipping: November. To see whether the mount suits your car, check your vehicle and read anchors vs a security cable. You can also compare the models, see every car gun safe and read the reviews.
