These Shorts show how a Boosted Safe gets set up: a first-time setup race, a trick for deep anchor points, how the disc detainer key works, and what the fingerprint reader will accept.
The safe clips to LATCH anchors (called ISOFIX outside the US), with no tools and no drilling. The release is inside the safe. It comes off the anchors only after it has been opened. Each clip has its words written out below it.
For the full walk-through, see the setup guide and our article on how to install a vehicle gun safe. Firearms are stored unloaded.
The Shorts and their words
Fingerprint, Code, or Key: Can They Set It Up?
So we've got the Boosted Safe Elite here. This is our flagship product. It's got the biometric fingerprint or combination or key. Similar to the Basic model, where it attaches into the seats. Set it up, get it attached, and first one to have a new code with it attached to the seat wins. On your marks, get set, go. Three seconds in. Two minutes and 30 seconds in. Oh no. We've got the emergency lockout noise. This is your time to shine here, Lance. There it is. Nice. Five minutes and 30 seconds.
Car Safe Installation Hack
On relatively few vehicles you'll have attachment points that are buried really deep, and for those specific vehicles I would pull out these pins, remove your ISOFIX clips, attach them, and then slide the safe on afterwards. That's just a little bit easier way to get everything connected. Obviously you got to put your pins back in when you're done, but once you get it all connected up it's very secure, and that's an easier way to get the safe connected on some of those deeper attachment points.
Premium Lock for a Premium Safe
This is what's known as a disc detainer lock. You'll notice that I'm turning here and nothing's happening, and that's because I don't have it in all of the way. This type of lock allows for a false turn, as you can see. There's a bunch of rotating discs in there [...]. But when you have the key all the way in, then obviously it works, and that's because there's these really cool, you know, and a lot of locksmiths can't even cut these because they're so high-tech, and if you turn just one of them it does nothing. So it's actually an extra security measure [...].
Program Your Safe with your Toeprint?
You can program your toes if you want to. Some people will worry about cutting off their fingers. Program your toes. Hahaha. It worked.
