What Armed Forager tested
This is a 9-minute review of the Boosted Safe Elite by Daniel of Armed Forager, a YouTube channel, posted Sep 8, 2026, which also compares it with four other portable safes.
Video by Armed Forager, on YouTube. The video does not say how he got the unit. Its description links to our store. Words below are ours, not theirs.
Most of the video is a feature review and not a stress test. He does not pull on it or attack it. His main argument is redundancy: fingerprint, keypad and key are three separate ways in, and USB-C emergency power covers dead batteries. He is most pleased by the key lock, which he identifies as a disc detainer and says is harder to pick than the tubular locks on many safes. He also likes the front-mounted controls, and he calls the cover clever passive security.
His comparisons are with the Vaultek LifePod 2.0, the Vaultek Slider, the Hornady Rapid and the StopBox Pro. In his view, the LifePod has the edge for airport travel and carries a waterproof claim. The Slider is bigger and needs a permanent mount. The Hornady needs a separate RFID device. The StopBox is a different kind of product, which he says favors speed over locked security. These are his opinions, and he cites no test results for them. We have not checked his claims against those makers. Our own comparison is BoostedSafe vs StopBox.
The part to read closely is the ending. He lists what he has not established: how the reader holds up after thousands of scans, and how the finish copes with scratches in a car. He also wants more accessories in the box. His verdict is conditional on these, and it opens with "If those features perform well over long-term testing". So this is a first look, and he says as much.
Some of this needs context. He lists uses away from the seat, including under a truck seat, in a hotel or at home. The safe is built to clip to the LATCH anchors (called ISOFIX outside the US) on the back seat. The included security cable is a second tether, or the option where there are no anchors, and it is not equal to the anchors. The box already holds that cable, a three-layer foam insert, the cover and a Faraday bag. Boosted Safe is not fireproof or waterproof. Firearms are stored unloaded, and he talks about handguns throughout.
What to watch for
- 1:34. The dimensions, which he reads out.
- 2:48. Why he values the key lock.
- 3:30. How the batteries and USB-C power work.
- 4:55. The start of the four comparisons.
- 7:00. His list of what he still wants to test.
The Boosted Safe Elite he reviewed
The Boosted Safe Elite measures 15.1 x 13.6 x 4.25 in inside, so measure your own items and do not rely on a named fit. The release is inside the safe. It comes off the anchors only after it has been opened. With enough time and tools nothing is secure. The job is to raise the time and the tool count.
The Elite in this video is a theft safe in 16-gauge steel. If firearms are the main job, the Golden Gate Elite is the model certified for firearms, in 12-gauge steel, on pre-order. Shipping: November.
