What Mr Jack Of All Trades tested
This is a 21-minute unboxing and install of the Boosted Safe Elite by Mr Jack Of All Trades, a YouTube channel, posted Jan 6, 2026 and filmed with a 2024 Hyundai Palisade.
Video by Mr Jack Of All Trades, on YouTube. Affiliate. He says he got the safe at a discount in return for the video, and he thanks Boosted Safe as its sponsor. Words below are ours, not theirs.
His reason is a gap he found after buying the car: no locking glove box and no locking console. He often has a camera with him and nowhere to shut it away. So he treats the safe as the locking compartment his car lacks, and most of the video is a first-time owner working it out on camera.
The setup goes fine once he follows the manual, which he calls clear. Two fingers fail on his first test because he had not registered them, and he says so. One detail he explains well: the USB-C port only supplies emergency power, so you still need your code or your finger to open the safe. Latching onto the LATCH anchors (called ISOFIX outside the US) turns out easier than he expected.
Then he looks through his tinted rear glass and says, "it does look like a car seat to be honest". That is the point he keeps returning to.
He does list drawbacks. The shipping box arrived dented, which he puts on the carrier. With the safe installed, the rear seatback cannot fold all the way down. He suggests a layer between the safe and leather seats. He did not try the third row, because of his back. The cover bothered him too: the offer he saw treated it as a promotion, and he argues the safe loses its purpose without one. The black booster-seat cover comes in the box with the Elite today.
He spends his closing minutes on whether the price is justified, decides it is, and asks viewers to push back. Prices and offers in the video are from January, so see every model and today's price. He also nods at firearms and at hunters crossing state lines, without going further. Firearms are stored unloaded. For that side of it, read hunting season truck prep.
What to watch for
- 5:02. A DSLR in the foam, and how deep the interior goes.
- 7:02. Why the USB-C port does not open the safe by itself.
- 10:10. The tilt-and-push motion that seats the hooks.
- 10:54. Moving the front seat, and what the safe does to folding the rear seat.
- 16:47. The view through tinted rear glass.
The Boosted Safe Elite he installed
The Boosted Safe Elite is 16-gauge steel and opens by fingerprint, keypad or key. Inside it measures 15.1 x 13.6 x 4.25 in, so measure your camera kit first. The release is inside the safe. It comes off the anchors only after it has been opened. With enough time and tools nothing is secure. The job is to raise the time and the tool count.
The anchors come in US passenger vehicles from model year 2003, with some exceptions, so use the vehicle fit guide. If gear is your reason for looking, see securing a laptop, camera and passport in the car. You can also compare the models and read other Boosted Safe reviews. The Elite comes with the warranty and guarantee listed on our site.
