Well built. Apparently it is working because no one has tried to break into it! I'll keep ya posted.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Ray! Glad you’re pleased with the build. We’d welcome an update on how it works for you over time.

Easy to set amd reset. Instructions to reset if you lose the combo. Lock operates a lovking bar that holds the lid securely to prevent any avenue to pry. Back up key is a plus also.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Oliver! Glad setup and the backup key are useful to you.

Customer photo review of BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Amazing product! I ordered the refurbished unit and honestly it looks and operates like a brand new one. I have set my codes and tested it over a dozen times now, and it operates perfectly! Blends in nicely in the backseat of my Mazda CX50. I ordered the optional brown cover to blend in even more discreetly with my terra-cotta seats, but the black cover looks quite nice too with the black trim on the seats and interior. The different color covers give me options to change them out as I like. Very easy to set up and install. Just get it! Thank you Boosted Safe.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, John! Glad your refurbished safe fits the CX50 and you’re enjoying the cover options.

Customer photo review of BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

I was a little worried the Boosted Safe would be more difficult to install than shown in the videos . . . but it was super quick and easy! It really does look like a booster seat with the cover they provide. Also, there is lots of space inside and they provide several layers of inside foam so you can adjust it easily to whatever you want to place in the safe. I ordered the manual combo lock as I don't mind turning the combo or using a key. I love the security of having this ready for whenever I need it!

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Wendy! Glad installation was easier than expected and the adjustable storage works for you.

Customer photo review of BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

I'm very Satisfied with the Boosted Safe Basic. I find it extremely durable, easy to install and functions as intended to. Access is easy and fast with key. It will take a minute to access when using the code, and that's to be expected. Safe comes with a sufficient amount of padding options for valuables. Thank you!

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Steve! Glad the Basic fits your needs and the padding is useful.

Customer photo review of BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

I just received my combination Boosted Safe today and I have to say it was just as advertised. Installation was was quick and easy (not as quick as the video, but my neoprene seat covers made it a little thicker than normal seats). I like how sturdy it feels and the diamond stitched safe cover does a good job of “blacking it out” so you barely notice is when looking through tinted windows. As this is my 1st day with it, I can’t say much more about its performance. But I am pleased with what I see so far.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thank you! Glad the fit and build made a good first impression. We appreciate the detail about your seat covers.

I love this safe and its simplicity and utility. Perfectly does the job as intended and the owner is extraordinarily responsive and helpful!! When I get a second car I will be purchasing another one.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thank you, Alan! Glad the safe and the help you received have made it a good experience. We appreciate you considering another one.

Quality Product, easy installation, and the targets, quality foam packaging, cable and faraday bag are a great touch. If I am nitpicking I’d say the only thing is it sits at more of an angle than I’d like. But all vehicles are a little different so it’s understandable. I’d buy again and recommend.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Clayton, we appreciate the recommendation and the note about the angle. If you’d like us to look at the fit in your vehicle, send a photo to locked@boostedsafe.com.

Great quality. Works as advertised, and expected. I am using it regularly, and there have been zero issues. Definitely recommend.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Steven, regular use with no issues is good to hear. Thanks for recommending the Basic.

Fits Great! Looks Great! Matches my interior! Love the extra Foam to use whether I carry my Pistola or my Rolex it will hold tight!

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Paul, sounds like the foam is earning its keep. Happy the Basic fits your interior so well!

The unit I received is just a box with a lock nothing special Super expensive

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks for being candid, Fabian. We understand the Basic didn’t feel worth the price to you, and we appreciate hearing where it fell short.

Easy to install. Locking mechanism seems very robust. Machining is excellent. And the quilted cover does make it look like a booster seat to a casual observer. This is a clear upgrade from my former lockbox on a cable.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Patrick, thanks for noticing the machining and sharing how the Basic compares with your old lockbox. Good to hear installation was straightforward.

Great product, very easy order process, delivered on time, Installation was simple & I love the price of mind knowing my items are stored away securely.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Bada bing. Appreciate the review. Now you never have to worry about leaving valuables in your car ever again.

Bought this because I am a digital nomad and sometimes have to leave my work computer in my car unattended. Having it locked away as securely as possible allows me to leave it in my car with confidence. I really like that it locks to the child restraints vs. relying on a cable to connect it to the car. Safe will fit multiple laptops. I figure if someone does somehow manage to get this out of my car, I can honestly say I took every possible precaution which, if it is taken, will make my conversation with IT Security a lot easier. Also just makes me less stressed when I do leave it. Totally worth it to me.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Michael! Glad the anchor connection and laptop space suit your travels and help ease that worry while you’re working on the road.

It was very easy to install and very easy to use. I love the fact that you don't have to drill any holes in your car, just snap it into the brackets that are already there. The combination was easy to set, and the fact that the numbers face you when you open the car door makes it very easy to lock and unlock. I'm totally satisfied.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Roderick! Glad the snap-in installation and combination access are working so well for you.

The safe is good but I paid quite a bit for 3 day shipping and it took several weeks to arrive, with no communication from you until I raised hell on facebook.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks for telling us, Adrian. Waiting weeks after paying for faster shipping, without clear updates, is frustrating. Please contact support@boostedsafe.com with your order details so we can look into what happened.

To easy not to set up like a baby seat easy key release for lock combo also available just to easy not to have.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Steven! Glad setup and access have been straightforward for you.

Love this safe. Super secure and looks great. Wish I could have gotten the biometric version, but I needed that extra inch to fit my "truck gun" and all of its accessories. Even though it is only key operated, it locks very securely and can still be accessed fairly quick.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Oliver! Glad the space and access work for your setup. We appreciate hearing what mattered most when choosing your model.

There are times when a purchase exceeds customer expectations. That is the case here. Purchased the manual combination/keylock version and could not be happier. It snapped in securely with zero effort. The product design, quality and function are outstanding. Black quilted cover on a black interior is invisible through factory tinted rear door widows. I wholeheartedly recommend this product without any reservations.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thank you, John! Glad the Basic exceeded your expectations and fits right in with your interior. We appreciate the recommendation.

I have been waiting for a product like this! Works with my vehicle and can hold ALL the things I don't want to have disappear in a smash and grab. It gives me 2 ways to open and was easy to setup. Thanks BoostedSafe! Y'all gave me piece of mind.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Michael! Glad it fits your vehicle and has room for what you need. Happy to hear it’s bringing you peace of mind.

Works exactly as advertised, which is great in these times. Extra foam for the insides, which means you can customize and hold whatever you want. Easy to install on the child restraint hooks. What was not stressed in the promo material, is how easy it is to disconnect and remove from the vehicle. Not cheap, but well worth the cost, as Virginia now has some silly locking requirements, and this means we will be in full compliance.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Bill! Glad the adjustable storage and easy removal are useful. Your point about showing removal more clearly in our demos is helpful.

Fits perfectly on the seat. I put my iPad and extra stuff when I leave the car knowing it’s safe and secure.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Raul! Glad it fits well and has room for your iPad and other belongings.

Very good product. Will definitely slow at Thief down. I feel much better about leaving guns and valuables in my car when I go to walk, if I don't want to take everything with me. When I visit family I typically take a folding long gun, and it's nice to be able to walk into a gas station without having to worry about that being in the car not being locked up. With the combination lock and key backup I don't have to worry about power being out of my vehicle. It is a little bit slower to get into I would guess, but I like the reliability of being able to get into it.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Dave! Glad the mechanical lock and storage space work well for your travels.

Flimsy. Noisy. Manual safe is cheap hot chinese garbage.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks for the feedback, Erik. I’m sorry the build and noise disappointed you. Please contact support@boostedsafe.com so we can understand what you’re experiencing and help.

This basic model It's very difficult to open & even harder to close. Twisting the knob to unlock & lock it is definitely not a smooth mechanical transition, and it is extremely hard for me to turn the little knob. I don't think this is normal. I think something is Not lines up very well inside, but I don't know what to do about it. Brian Clark

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks for explaining this, Brian. The resistance you describe deserves a closer look. Please contact support@boostedsafe.com so we can help with the lock.

I had my doubts paying this much for a safe… but when you do your homework, it all made sense to at least give it a try. I didn’t even try. I bought at night on Monday, got notified that it shipped the next morning Tuesday. It was here Wednesday afternoon… the box itself is a cool target you can use for practice. The safe was beyond easy to install. Setting my own combo was a breeze. Only thing I wish was different was if it were to be built a little bit wider… but turns out they’re already working on exactly that! Do not hesitate to buy this. It is 100% worth it!

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Hector! Glad delivery and setup went smoothly. We appreciate the feedback about wanting more width.

I purchased this safe for anytime I have to be without my 2A - hospital visits, airport trips, etc. I feel confident that it will keep my valuables safe from theft. In addition, the idea to make it look like a booster seat is brilliant, as it would not arise suspicion of potential thieves. After seeing their stress tests, I knew I could confidently leave anything in my vehicle and come back to it still intact. My only suggestion is to include rubber lining on the top or base from the factory, as riding around causes a noticeable sound - like a metal can full of bolts jostling around. Once I added the rubber, it's silent!

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Jared! We appreciate the specific feedback about rattling and cushioning. Please contact support@boostedsafe.com if you need help checking the fit.

Safe was easy to re-code simple to install in vehicle. Good overall design... Now waiting for a crackhead to bust my window to see if the money was well spent.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thank you! Glad setting your code and installing the safe went smoothly.

So far so good. It does rattle a bit in the backseat but couple guns should keep it snug

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Mike! Glad you’re enjoying it. Please contact support@boostedsafe.com about the rattling so we can help check the fit.

Great customer service you call them they help you somebody actually picks up the phone I'm happy with the product

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Luan! Glad our team could help and you’re happy with the safe.

Wished it mounted long ways, using the right connector of one side and the left connector of the other side. That way you can open and close from driver seat.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks for the suggestion. We understand wanting easier access from the driver’s seat. Please use the designated pair of anchors for one seating position; support@boostedsafe.com can help check your vehicle’s fit.

Maybe better. Well made, shipped quickly.

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thank you! Glad the build and delivery met your expectations.

good fit and finish securely locks on rear seat

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks, Arthur! Glad you’re pleased with the fit and finish.

When you try to close the lid it sort of feels like it’s off-line you have to pull the lid slightly to one side to get it to lineup Propper

BoostedSafe Basic: Manual Combination Lock

Store owner replied: Thanks for flagging the lid alignment. Please contact support@boostedsafe.com so we can help check why it needs shifting to close properly.

First, I can't give it a 5 rating because we haven't had anyone try to steal it. That would be the ultimate test and rating if it holds up to its promise. I can say it was easy as heck to install and setting the new code was also very easy. So far it works as advertised as far as installing and setting up your own code. You can also remove some of the foam padding to increase the amount of space needed. Overall, very happy we got this.

Frequently asked questions.

Which cars does it fit?

Yes. Every US passenger vehicle built since model year 2003 has the steel child-seat anchors it clips to. It’s federal law. Driving something older, or want it where there are no anchors? Our Universal Anchor Adapter gives it the same steel latch points.

Do I need tools or have to modify anything?

No tools, no drilling, no mods. It clicks into the same anchors a child seat uses. About fifteen seconds in, about fifteen seconds out.

Can’t a thief just take the whole safe?

The release is inside the safe. To take it out of the car you have to unlock it and open it first. No key, code or fingerprint, no removal.

Won’t a thief still break my window?

Maybe. A safe doesn’t stop a rock. What it does is turn a sixty-second payday into a broken window and nothing to show for it. Glass is a few hundred dollars. A pistol, a laptop or a passport the week of your trip is a different kind of day.

Doesn’t the ad tell thieves what to look for?

They can know exactly what it is. It’s still steel, locked to welded steel, and it opens from the inside. Knowing where the bank vault is has never been the hard part.

How do I take it out or move it to another car?

Open it, press the release inside, lift it out. About fifteen seconds. It clicks into your next car the same way, and it’s light enough to carry in one hand.

Can my kid actually sit on it?

Not on the BoostedSafe or the Golden Gate. Those only look like booster seats. The Mini is built as a real booster with a locked compartment inside, and its certification is in progress.

What if someone does break into it?

Then we replace it, free. That’s the break-in guarantee. Power tools and a lot of time beat every safe ever made, which is why we cover it instead of pretending.

Is $399 a lot for a car safe?

It’s a lot for a box on a cable. It’s cheap for the only one locked to the car, and you can split it. It also costs less than the laptop, the pistol, or the passport the week of your trip.

Why not just use the trunk or take it with me?

Do that when you can. This is for the courthouse, the stadium, the gym, the trailhead, the school, the flight: everywhere the sign on the door says no and the trunk release is a button on the dash.

What if they steal the whole car?

Then you have a stolen car, and that’s what insurance is for. Your safe is still locked, still latched to a car with a plate number, and still covered by the break-in replacement.

What if they unbolt the whole seat?

That’s a toolbox, ten minutes and a lot of noise in a parking lot. Smash-and-grabs last under a minute. And they’d still be carrying a locked steel box.

It takes up a seat. What if I need it?

Fifteen seconds and it’s in the trunk. If your back seat is full every single day, this isn’t your safe, and we’d rather tell you now.

I carry on my hip. Why would I need this?

Good. Keep doing that. This is for the places you legally can’t: federal buildings, schools, stadiums, some employers. One customer told us he carries more often now, because he always has somewhere legal to put it.

Does it block key-fob and RF signals?

The safe itself isn’t a signal blocker. The Faraday bag that comes free with the Elite is. It fits a 16-inch laptop, an iPad, a phone or your keys, and blocks their signals while it’s sealed.

Is it fireproof or waterproof?

No, and we won’t pretend. It’s a theft safe. Don’t leave batteries or anything heat-sensitive in a closed car in August, safe or no safe.

Is it legal for firearm transport in my state?

It’s a locked steel container attached to the vehicle, which is what most state transport laws ask for. The Golden Gate Elite is California DOJ certified. Store firearms unloaded and check your own state’s rules.

Are these reviews real?

Yes. They’re verified buyers on Loox, we reply to nearly every one, and the ad comments on this page are copied word for word. One commenter got accused of being a bot, so he posted a photo of his safe and his NRA instructor credentials.

Can I see it in person first?

We’re at gun shows and in select safe dealers. Easier: buy it, put it in your car for 30 days, and send it back if you don’t love it.

Can you fill it with Tannerite and shoot it?

You can. We did. Do not recommend. Video coming.

Nobody steals a booster seat.

Nobody steals a booster seat.

Thieves grab what they can see in a few seconds. A booster seat looks like furniture. Under the cover is 16-gauge steel, locked to anchors your car already has.

Person setting a Boosted Safe onto a car's back seat to clip it in

Your car already has steel anchors. The safe locks to them.

Every US car built since 2003 has steel child-seat anchors welded into the body. The safe clips onto them with patented latches. The release is inside the locked safe, so nobody outside the car can pop it free.
