Road trips, rental cars, a week of hotel lots. The Boosted Safe clicks into the child-seat anchors in most cars built since 2003, in under a minute, no tools. Laptop, passports and cash go inside, and the cover makes it look like a booster seat. When the trip is over, it comes out just as fast.
Out-of-state plates and a car full of bags.
Thieves work the places travelers stop: the overlook with forty cars and nobody watching, the motel lot by the interstate, the beach lot where people sit in their cars and watch who opens a trunk. You only stopped for lunch.
- The trunk of a rental.Every thief knows where tourists put things.
- The motel room.A safe the size of a toaster, if there is one.
- Carrying it all.A laptop bag on a hike is a bad hike.
- A lock box on a cable.Bolt cutters take about four seconds, and the box leaves with them.
Your car has steel anchors. We lock a safe to them.
You might not know they’re there. Every passenger vehicle sold in the US since the 2003 model year has them, by federal standard FMVSS 225. A child seat clicks into them. So does a Boosted Safe.
- Locked to the car.Two steel latches grab the same bars that hold a child seat in a crash. The release is inside the safe.
- Looks like a booster seat.Nobody breaks a window for a booster seat.
- Opens in a second.Fingerprint first. Keypad and key behind it.

If you fly with a firearm
TSA case on the plane. Safe in the rental.
The safe isn’t your airline case. It’s where the gun lives, unloaded, once you’ve picked up the rental. This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice. TSA, airline and state rules change. Check TSA, your airline, and every state on your route before you go. TSA: transporting firearms · State by state
- At home.Unloaded, in a locked hard-sided case. Ammunition in a box made for it. (TSA)
- At the counter.Declare every firearm and any ammunition to the airline. Checked bags only. Only you keep the key or code. (TSA)
- At the rental.Click the safe into the back-seat anchors. Gun goes in unloaded. Cover down.
- Driving between states.Federal law covers the trip if the gun is unloaded and out of reach; in a vehicle with no trunk, in a locked container that isn’t the glove box or console. State laws differ. (18 U.S.C. 926A)

Set up in less than 60 seconds. Every car on the trip.
No tools, no drilling, nothing left behind in the rental. It clicks into the same steel anchors a child seat uses, fifteen seconds in and fifteen out. The carry handle turns a steel box into luggage.

Straight answers.
Does it work in a rental car?
If the rental has child-seat anchors in the back seat, yes. Most passenger vehicles from the 2003 model year on do. Check the rental’s back seat for the two anchor bars before you leave the garage.
Where should I keep my passport in a rental car?
Not in the glove box, the console or a bag on the seat. Those are the first places a thief checks. Keep it on you, or in a steel safe locked to the car. The Boosted Safe clicks into the rental’s child-seat anchors, and passports, a laptop and cash fit inside.
Can I fly with it?
Plenty of owners drive it. If you fly, check your airline’s checked-bag weight limits first; it’s a steel box.
Can I use it as my airline gun case?
Don’t plan on it. TSA requires a locked hard-sided case that can’t be easily opened, declared at the counter, and airlines add their own rules. Use a proper airline case for the flight, then lock the gun in the safe in the car at the other end.
Is it legal to leave a gun in the car where I’m going?
Depends on the state, sometimes the city. See our state-by-state page and read the law yourself. This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice. TSA, airline and state rules change. Check TSA, your airline, and every state on your route before you go.
What fits?
A 16-inch laptop, passports, wallet, a camera body with a lens, a pistol (unloaded). Interior 15.1 × 13.6 × 4.25 in on the Boosted Safe.
Hotel parking overnight?
That’s the job. It latches to steel anchors that are part of the car, and the release is inside the safe. With enough time and tools nothing is secure; a hotel lot at 3 a.m. is short on both.
Two cars on the trip?
Yes, and it gets cheaper. Buy one, get one half off: 25% off every safe when you buy 2 to 9, and 30% off at 10 or more. All six safes count together, mixed or matched: Elite, Basic, Mini Elite, Mini Basic, Golden Gate Elite and Golden Gate Basic. Refurbished safes don’t count, and it doesn’t stack with other codes. What if I don’t like it?
Put it in your car and live with it. If it isn’t for you, send it back inside 30 days for a refund. Defects are covered for as long as you own it.
Stop for the view. The passports stay put.
